FREE Covid-19 Testing Offered by Loudoun County
Loudoun County has scheduled two more free drive-thru COVID-19 testing events:

The December 8 and December 13 testing events are open to all. There are no age or residency requirements. No prescriptions or appointments are necessary. A person does not have to exhibit symptoms of COVID-19 in order to be tested. A PCR test (nasal swab) will be administered, which tests for the novel coronavirus. No antibody or rapid tests will be offered.

Registration Form

To help reduce wait times, people who plan to attend the testing event are strongly encouraged to complete a registration form for each person who will be receiving a test prior to arriving at the testing site. The registration form is required and asks for general demographics and contact information, including name, date of birth, address, phone number and current symptoms, if any.

The fillable form may be downloaded, filled out, printed and completed forms should be brought with you to the testing site. Forms will also be available at the testing site for individuals who do not have access to a printer or otherwise are unable to complete the forms in advance. The forms are also available at loudoun.gov/COVID19testing.

Stay Informed

Loudoun County encourages residents to stay informed about COVID-19.
  • Visit loudoun.gov/coronavirus for more information about how to protect yourself and your family and to sign up for email and text updates on COVID-19.
  • Opt in to receive text messages from Loudoun County about COIVD-19:

FSBL Weeknight Practice & Schedule for Week of December 7, 2020

FSBL Weeknight Practice Schedule

*If you have a GMail account, you can request to have the "real time" practice schedule shared with you.  This feature is especially helpful to Head Coaches.  Please send your GMail email address to Aubre Jones at webadmin@fsbl.org.  Once approved, you would go into your GMail email, go to the Google Drive, and view the documents "shared with me" to properly view the schedule.  Coaches do no have the ability to add practices to the schedule.  All additional practices must be put on the spreadsheet by the league scheduler.  There are tabs on the bottom of the document to view each week throughout the season.

Google email is free!

*or view the PDF for practices that may not have been updated below!

FSBL Updated Parent Attendance Policy
Notice to FSBL league

Due to Covid-19 and the need to limit large gatherings, parents, siblings, friends, and guests are not allowed to attend practices this season.

ONE "adult member" of the family for each player may attend an FSBL game. No siblings - nor anyone under the age of 18 - may attend a game. There will no exceptions to this policy.

The adult member who chooses to attend the game must wear a face mask, have their temperature taken, and complete a "Participant Health Screening Questionnaire" which can be found on the FSBL homepage.

Only water is allowed in schools. You will be asked to leave the school building if you are consuming any liquid other than water.

We are counting on all visitors to help us maintain a safe clean environment.
Wear a face mask, use hand sanitizer, and practice social distancing.

Thank you.

With Deepest Sympathy

It is with our deepest sympathy that we announce a family loss for one of our Board Members

Prince Mensah, son of Emmanuel Mensah, passed away on Sunday November 15, 2020.

Prince was a member of the military and served as a Marine Sergeant.

Some of you may remember seeing Prince around the gyms with his father. Later he became the very first student supervisor for scorekeepers. He graduated from Broad Run High School and joined the Marines. He was stationed in Japan as well as California.

Please join me in expressing our condolences and sympathy to the Family.

The family has asked that you do not send flowers.

What the Well-Dressed FSBL Player Wears!

FSBL Uniformity!

All players must be appropriately dressed to play in each game.  Each player must wear the league issued jersey.  One of the uniform requirements is that each player wear solid black shorts with NO horizontal or vertical stripes, NO words or markings unless the entire team wears the exact same design shorts.  We're seriously talking solid black!  A small, thumbnail-sized, branding logo such as a Nike “swoosh” is permissible.   A team may choose to wear team-logo shorts or other design shorts that match the Jersey as long as everyone on the team wears the same style, design and color shorts.

Players who show up to play without solid black
shorts will not be permitted to play in the game (unless their team has decided to go with an entirely different color of shorts)!  Before leaving home to come to the gym, make sure that your son or daughter is properly dressed.  One of our FSBL sponsors, Cheers Sports, carries all-black shorts.

FSBL has received some questions regarding the wearing of shorts with pockets. FSBL players must wear plain solid black shorts with no other colors or designs. The preference is that these shorts have no pockets. Players who wear shorts with pockets are required to keep the pockets empty while participating in games. If items are discovered in the pockets during the game, the player will be removed for the remainder of the game. Repeated violations will lead to further discipline.

All Coaches must wear the league Coaches Polo or a NBA or WNBA Branded shirt of the team they coach.

Players on a team may wear undershirts.  The undershirt should match a color in the jersey or must be white tee shirts.  All players wearing undershirts on a team must wear the same color undershirt.  Players are not required to wear an undershirt under the jersey.  No jewelry, wrist bracelets, watches, necklaces or earrings may be worn by players at all during the game.  Finally, if a player wears eyeglasses - they must wear "rec specs" or a similar product - to play in games.  Regular metal framed glasses are no longer permitted in games.

Comments from the

Commish

November 6, 2020

Hello FSBL Families:

There have been some questions regarding refunds during the Covid-19 crisis.  Refunds, if necessary, will be made in accordance with our rules.  As stated in our rules:

a.    Exception:  If for any reason the league cannot form teams and play the season league refunds will be made minus the processing fee.

Covid-19 fits into the "any reason" category and if the league was cancelled due to Covid-19 then you would receive a refund minus the processing fee.  At this point there should be no doubt that FSBL will have a league this season. Should the Covid-19 situation turn worse and force a cancellation of the season, as a mandate from the state, then you will receive a refund minus the processing fee.

I hope this clears up this issue for everyone. If you still have questions please feel free to contact me.

Craig Newman
FSBL Commissioner

Your child's success or lack of success in sports does not indicate what kind of parent you are.

But having an athlete who is coachable, respectful, a great teammate, mentally tough, resilient and tries their best IS a direct reflection of your parenting.

Sportsmanship
Something to think about while watching your son or daughter play in FSBL games this season:

1.  These are kids.

2.  Basketball is a
      game.

3.  Parents should
      cheer for
      everyone!

4.  The referees are
      human and some
      times make
      mistakes.

5.  Your child is not a
      professional
      athlete playing
      for a million
      dollars ..... yet!

If you disagree with these statements, please contact FSBL Commissioner, Craig Newman:

FSBL Rule 7.c

Parents are required to notify the FSBL Board Of Directors, within forty-eight (48) hours, when their child is suspended or expelled from school. If the BOD is not notified within forty-eight (48) hours of any such suspension/expulsion then upon discovery the child will be expelled from FSBL immediately for the remainder of the current season and the entire next season.

Wear RecSpecs!
If your son or daughter wears regular eye glasses to see like those pictured below, they are not permitted to be worn in practices or games in the FSBL. Before the season begins, please have your player fitted for a pair of RecSpecs or another brand of prescription sport goggles.
